Topic: A GOOD HEART (part 1)
Text. : Luke 6: 39-49
St. Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not
forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt
tree bring forth good fruit.
St. Luke 6:44 For every tree is known by his
own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather
figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they
grapes.
St. Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good
treasure of his heart bringeth forth that
which is good; and an evil man out of the
evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that
which is evil: for of the abundance of the
heart his mouth speaketh.
Just as a tree produces fruit of it kind so
also, the heart of a man determines his
ways of life and probably his experience in
life. Life experiences are usually regulated
or modified by the state of a man’s heart,
how do I mean? A man with bad
experiences in life can walk out of such
unpleasant experiences if he possesses a
good heart, while a man with good
experiences in life, but with a bad state of
heart might anytime soon walk into
misfortune.
This scripture will more shed light; Proverbs
4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for
out of it are the issues of life. Issues of life
comes from the heart, says the Scriptures,
that means the source of issues is the heart.
So it will be right to say ‘ guiding the heart is
synonymous to guiding your life ‘ whoever
cannot keep a watch over his heart cannot
get the best of his life.
KEEPING YOUR HEART
One of the definitions of heart is; a locus of
feelings and intuitions. When what you hear
and what you see settle in your heart, they
bring a kind of feeling in direction of the
message they carry, for instance; an
immoral song will bring immoral thought
and immoral feeling. So if you must keep
your heart, you must watch the content of
what you hear and see. Watch what your
heart feed on, this is absolutely important
because in the long run it will affect your
life. Negative stories will affect your heart
negatively, and if care is not taken your life.
So give all diligence to keep your heart. God
bless you.
