Topic: THE HEART OF INTERCESSION Part 2
Text: Ezekiel 22:30-31 KJV
30- And I sought for a man among them,
that should make up the hedge, and stand
in the gap before me for the land, that I
should not destroy it: but I found none.
31- Therefore have I poured out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed
them with the fire of my wrath: their own
way have I recompensed upon their heads,
saith the Lord God.
Intercession we said is the prayer that plead
with God for the needs of others.
Last week, we considered that God seeks for
true and genuine intercessors and that if we
fail to intercede, God may not do what He
wants or ought to do.
Today, another reason why we need to
intercede is that, situations may remain the
same and not change if we fail to intercede.
We can’t afford to fold our arms and watch
situation deteriorate around us, we’ve got
to carry everything to God in prayer.
A very good case study of an intercessor in
the bible is Moses. According Numbers
14:10-20, the Israelites murmured against
Moses and Aaron and God was angry with
them and told Moses that He (God) would
destroy the entire Israelites and would raise
from Moses a nation mightier than they,
but Moses would not allow God to destroy
Israel even when God gave him (Moses) an
exciting promise to raise a greater nation
than Israel from Moses. God did eventually
pardon the Israelites according to the
prayer of Moses. Beloved, assuming Moses
did not pray for the Israelites, a whole of lot
of things we read about them would have
been written different from that point
onward, I tell you the truth, intercession is a
great thing.
Other case studies from the bible are:
* Nehemiah, He prayed for Jerusalem and
rebuilt the broken walls of Jerusalem
(Nehemiah 1-End)
* Daniel, He prayed for the freedom of
Jerusalem from captivity (Daniel 9,10)
* Abraham prayed for Sodom and
Gomorrah (Genesis 18:17-29)
Dearly beloved, we can make great impact
on our knees about our nations, our
families, our churches, our unsaved friends
and neighbours through intercession. Ask
God today for passion to intercede, God
bless you.
PRAYER
* Father, give me a heart of intercession
* Father, do not let the lots of the wicked
fall upon the righteous any more in Jesus
Name
* Deliver our nation from unrest, terrorism
and hardship in Jesus Name
* Let thy kingdom come upon our land in
Jesus Name
