Text. : Mark 9: 20-29
St. Mark 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
St. Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Some publishers of the bible put the words of Jesus in red ink, indicating; they are strict instructions, and must be obeyed, this is because, He is the mediator of the new covenant, our passage buttresses the importance of fasting and prayer. As I checked through the old testament, I discovered that; prophets of God who did great things by the Spirit of God, made fasting and prayer as incurable attribute in their lives.
This is simply because the world is spiritual, and fasting and prayer is a good tool to subduing your flesh, canal desires, passion for sin, worldly desires, etc. Anyone who devotes himself to prayer or act of worship while fasting, gets an entrance into the spiritual realm, and in that mood of worship the fellow’s spirit is connected to the Holy Spirit, great things are then released into his spirit man, at that realm, he gets clear instructions that will transform his life.
Elijah, Moses, David, even Jesus waited upon the Lord in fasting and prayer, and great was their achievement in life. When you combine fasting with prayer, is like when you ignite fire and release gas to the fire, you can be sure there will be explosion, I’m very sure that there will be explosion of prosperity, breakthrough, success, and all good things our hearts so desire as we wait upon the Lord, these 16 days. PRAYER.
* I receive strength to wait upon you, oh Lord.
* Let my spirit connect to yours as I wait upon you.
* Release the supernatural in my life, as I wait upon you Lord.
* Speak with the method I will best understand.
* Let my heavens open as I wait upon you Lord.
* Release your wonder working power in my life in these 16 days.
