PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
28th June
Topic: NOT A PLACE OF SIN
Text: Hebrews 11:10-27, KJV.
12 – For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
13-These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
16- But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
The book of Hebrews 11 speaks of the exploits of the men of old and their expectation of a country or a city which God had promised them, a city whose builder and maker is God. A glorious city which they called their home, far much better than the earth where they once lived and said they were pilgrims and strangers in it (Hebrews 11:13).
In Revelation 21:1-4, John speaks of that same city as a holy city, prepared as bride adorned for her husband. He said it will be a city without tears, sorrow and pain and where the old things are passed away.
Jesus Himself speaks of that city in John 14:1-4 that there are many mansions there, and He was going to prepare them for His saints. He added in Matthew 13:43-44 that, that city is worth far more than the entire world of a man and its worth sacrificing all for.
However, one important thing about that city is that it is not a place of sin, it can’t be compared to the earth where sin abides. Revelation 21:27 says “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie…” meaning no unclean thing e.g sin, evil, darkness, sorrow, shame, pain, hatred, trouble e.t.c shall enter that holy city.
Dearly beloved, it therefore means if you look forward to that city like the Apostles of old then, you must live in absolute holiness because that city is not a place of sin. God bless you.
PRAYER:
Father, help me to live in absolute holiness, and make me pure as light in Jesus Name.
