Text : 1 Chronicles 4:1-10
1 Chronicles 4:9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Dignity is defined as the quality of being worthy of esteem or respect. Everyone wants to be respected, no one desires to live an undignified life, but, while some give their best to live in dignity, some circumstances beyond their control will not permit them.
First point to note here is this: no one, made by God, is made without dignity, every life is meant to manifest glory and honour Psalms 8:5. Some factors are responsible for undignified life, some are man-made while others are spiritual.
FACTORS THAT ERODE DIGNITY
* Character: everyone with a perverse character can not live in dignity, Proverb 11:3
* Poverty : there is no dignity in poverty, its erodes the glory in the life of a man Proverbs 19:4
* Debt. : he who goes borrowing, goes sorrowing, debt is used by the devil to reduce a man, most times a debtor lose his freedom when he sees his creditor.
* Ignorance : this is the worst of all, it keeps one behind his equals, it makes one operate below his level, but, knowledge is the key to entering into greatness. Look at this : Ecclesiastes 10:15 The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city. City is a place where things happen, compare to village, it is a lively place. Fool, one who lacks required knowledge for success, does exploit in remote area like village, where his effort his not appreciated, but does not know how to come to the city, where he will get high value for his labour.
Put up right attitude because it will attract right people into your life, pray fervently against anything that is eroding dignity from your life. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Today am walking out of debt, poverty and everything that does not dignify my life in the name of Jesus.
* Open my mind to understand what will change my level.
