Topic: THE SHINNING LIGHT
Text: Matthew 5: 1-16KJV
14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
It is often said that one cannot give what one does not have, it is what you have that you can give. A bulb supplies light because it has the element that give supply to light in it and it does so only when connected to electric power. Our text says ye are the light of the word and the went further to say “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and praise your father in heaven”. This implies
* Before you can shine your light you have to be a carrier of light. And the only content of light that can be in you is Jesus. He says in John 8:12 “I am the light of the world: he
that followeth me shall not walk in
darkness, but shall have the light of life.” So no Jesus no light
* Light is synonymous to good works, Matthew 5:16 says “….that they may see your good works” A life that shines the light of God is a life full of good works to God and to all men. So if you claim you are a child of light then ask yourself what are my good works. What good things can people say about you? What impact are you making in your world physically, spiritually, socially and otherwise. Think on these things because it pays to be a shining light than to be an habitation of darkness. PRAYER:
1. Father, help me to be a carrier of your light indeed
2. Every works of darkness in me, father replace them with your shining light in Jesus Name
