Topic: THE FEAR OF THE LORD Part 1
Text: Proverbs 1:7-8 KJV
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and
instruction.
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
and forsake not the law of thy mother
Beloved it is indeed wisdom to fear God, to
obey God’s instruction, to submit totally to
the leading of God and to walk in His
counsels. Ecclesiates 12:13 says “Fear God,
and keep his commandments: for this is the
whole duty of man”, meaning the primary
assignment of a man on earth is to solely
fear God and keep God’s commandment.
Though God is invisible but He is worthy to
be feared.
A reminder of the story of David in 1
Chronicles 21 will throw more light on the
fear of God. David sinned and God gave him
three punishments. First is 3 years of
famine, second is 3 months of war from
their enemies and third is 3 days of death.
David chose the third option saying “it is
better to fall in the hands of God than in
the hands of men”. Am sure David’s mind
set was that the first two punishments
would make Israel be at the mercy of men
while for the last one, Israel would be at the
mercy of God. However on day-1 alone
about 70,000 people died when the angel of
death moved before God had mercy,
brethren imagine if God did not have mercy
on Israel, by the end of 3 days am sure the
whole nation of Israel would have been
wiped out by that angel But thank God for
His mercies. And so brethren like Paul said
“It is a fearful thing to fall into hands of the
living God (Hebrews 10:31)”
Dearly beloved, it is wisdom to fear God and
it is foolishness to despise Him. God bless
you

1.Father let me fear you more than
anything else in Jesus
2. Lord help me to apply my heart unto
wisdom
