Topic: WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE
Text : 2 Corinthians 10:1-18
3 KJV:For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 KJV:(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 KJV:Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
From our passage the bible creates awareness of war, and the war is not canal but spiritual. Just like soldiers, we have weapons of war, the very prominent one is the one l want to share this morning: PRAYER. It is a spiritual weapon, it became mighty through God, in other words God empowers it to become mighty.
Many people doubt the efficacy of prayer, some people believe that prayer can do some things and not others, some people imagine how can mere closing of eyes and saying words bring desired results? The answer is not far fetch; it is simply because God makes it mighty v.4
Prayer can do what God can do, and cannot do what God cannot do, so if there is nothing God cannot do, obviously there is nothing prayer cannot do. Prayer is committing God to act in your favour, prayer is bringing God in a matter, prayer is handling things over to God, it is also reporting your case to the almighty God. This illustration will help: if anyone is threatening my life, it is my duty to report to police, it is the police’s duty to arrest that person, I don’t bother about arrest. In like manner, it is our duty to pray to God through His son Jesus Christ, it is God’s duty to answer, we should not bother about how prayer will be answered.
So anytime you bother about how your prayer will be answered, you are trying to perform God’s duty and that is absolutely wrong. Eventually when God answers us miraculously we experience the power of prayer, in essence God’s makes prayer mighty when you get answer and so we say ‘prayer is mighty through God’. GOD BLESS YOU.
