Topic: LABOUR & REST
Text: Genesis 2:1-4KJV
1. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the hoost of them.
2. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3. And God blessed the seventh day, and santified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which he had made
Labour simply is work, and rest simply means to cease from labour or work. There is dignity in labour, laziness is not a good thing at all, it should never be encouraged, laziness is synonymous to idleness and an idle mind they say is the devil’s workshop. However, it is important to rest from labour to refresh one self and regain energy to continue with labour. From our text, God after six days of labour (creation) rested on the seventh day, this clearly point to us that rest from labour is good. Take note of the following:
* Don’t work all day long without making out time to rest (sleep at night)
* When you rest, you regains your energy and strength
* Your body is not a machine, it needs rest, even machines breakdown when over used
* Don’t over rest tending to laziness
* Don’t take rest as an occassion to be lazy or sluggish
* Even while you rest be on the alert physically and spiritually
* If your work doesn’t give you time to rest, prayerfully with wisdom create time to rest, because if you breakdown work will continue
* Don’t take rest as excuse not to go to church, serve God or do His work. God bless you
PRAYER:
Father, help me to a wise labourer or worker and to live a balanced life in Jesus Name
