Topic: THE RIGHT APPLICATION
Text: Numbers 20:1-12 KJV
7 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
8 Take the rod, and gather thou the
assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the
congregation and their beasts drink.
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
God has given us many weapons of warfare attack the kingdom of darkness and to defend ourselves from attack of the enemies, like wise He has given us many keys to open any kind of door, however it is important to know that for every weapon or key there must be the right application to achieve the desired result. If a man stands by a door and has with him keys to open that door, but kept on trying to open with a wrong key, he would be shut outside for a long time, likewise a hunter who is at a very close range as in face to face contest with a snake and instead of using a matchet wants to use a gun, he is very much likely to miss target and even if he does not, the noise from the gun can affect him negatively due to very close range. So there is a right application for every spiritual keys, tools and weapons.
From our text, Moses was clearly instructed by God to speak to the rock but out of his anger and assumption that this situation was the same like a previous one where God asked him to smite the rock for water to come out, he went ahead and smote the rock instead of speaking to the rock and God was seriously angry with him and Aaron.
Dearly beloved, situations can be the same but God can solve them in different ways, some instances you will fast and pray and nothing happens but at the moment you praise situations change immediately. To use the right key or weapons let us learn to:
* Stay connected to the Holy Spirit
* Ask God what to do to per time
* Obey absolutely the divine instructions
* Not to assume for God in resolving issues
