Topic: LIBERTY IN CHRIST
Text: Galatians 5:1-13 KJV
1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty
wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
The earth has often been in darkness even before God created her inhabitants. In Genesis 1:1-3 God spoke light into the darkness on earth. The darkness became worse, I mean gross darkness cover the earth and her inhabitants (Isaiah 60:2) when Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, So Jesus Christ came to buy us our lost freedom, redeeming us from darkness, sins and its consequences. His death was a perfect sacrifice, painful it was but He made it for our liberty. Our text today is admonishing to stand in the liberty Christ purchased for us and not to entangle ourselves again with the yoke of bondage which is sin.
Dearly beloved, how would you feel if you were to be an advocate and pleaded for stranger who was already condemned to death by the law such that the advocacy you made cost you loss of parts of your body, also put your job at stake and many more unpleasant things you could never forget, and when that condemned stranger was freed, he was not thankful and still went back to his old ways of life. I am very such next time you were called to plead his course you would wish he died in prison. How much more God who gave His only son and Jesus Christ who sacrifice His life for your freedom, beloved don’t take the sacrifice of Jesus’ death for granted, don’t misuse that liberty for an occasion to sin and don’t be entangled again with the yoke of bondage. PRAYER:
1. Father, thank you for the death of Jesus to purchase my freedom
2. Lord help me not to be entangled again with sin in Jesus Name.
