Topic: BEHOLD THE LAMB Part 2
Text: Hebrews 12: 1-5 KJV
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which
doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
In Part 1, we considered that we need to behold the lamb for our salvation. We also need to behold the lamb for:
* SUSTAINABILITY: We are in the world but we are not of this world, and so as pilgrims on earth, on a journey to heaven, we need to behold Jesus the one who can help us stay focus and not distracted in this world, the one who can make us victorious over the challenges of life and battles against our soul (John 16:33).
There is a constant war between our flesh and our spirit and Romans 8:6-8 says “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” It is therefore important to gaze on Jesus to carry us through this pilgrim journey to be overcomers
* ETERNITY: Jesus is the finisher of our faith, He is the perfection of our salvation. So from the day of our salvation till we reign with Jesus Christ in eternity, we must look unto Jesus. He said no one can come to the father except through Him (John 14:6). We should behold the lamb constantly:
* in prayer
* in praise
* in the word of God
* in biblical fasting
* in evangelism e.t.c
