Topic: BE COURAGEOUS
Text: Joshua 1:1-10KJV
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant
commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
Courage is an essential attribute for our day-to-day living and success in life, business and ministry especially when you find yourself in a situation like Joshua did. Moses had just died with an unfinished task and Joshua was to take over the mantle of leadership, knowing fully well the great qualities Moses had and the great exploits he did for example he parted the red sea and also brought out the entire nation of Israel from Egypt by a mighty hand of signs and wonders. So Joshua must have thought would I be able to measure up to my master Moses but God told him to be courageous. God is saying the same to you be courageous. People can easily compare especially when you have just taken over another person position or responsibilties, they can easily look at you with eyes of doubt (will this person be able to do like the previous person), Beloved whatever, the case may be just be courageous and rely totally on God.
In 1 Samuel 17, David was no where near the Goliath in stature and physical strength but he had an inner strength greater than that of Goliath and that is courage or boldness. David saw the giant Goliath like one of the bear and lion he killed while watching over his father’s flock and so he defeated Goliath not with sword but with a stone.
In Numbers 13:30-33 Caleb out of courage together with Joshua out of the 12 spies Moses sent to spy the land of Canaan came back with good report. Caleb stilled the people and told them that Israel was able to go possess the land of Canaan because God had promised them the land. It took boldness for Joshua and Caleb to stand and deliver good reports about the land amidst the other 10 spies that gave bad reports.
Dearly beloved,be courageous in life, business and ministry knowing fully well that God is with you and you will succeed in Jesus Name.
PRAYER:
Father, help me to be bold and courageous in my daily living in Jesus Name.
