Topic: ENTICEMENT
Text : Proverbs 1: 1-20
10 KJV:My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
14 KJV:Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 KJV:My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 KJV:For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
Enticement is defined as something that seduces or has the quality of seducing (temptation). It is also defined as qualities that attract by seeming to promise some kind of reward. (come- on, lure). When you make up your mind to serve the Lord, the devil sees you as number 1 enemy, he mounts obstacles, hurdles, challenges and most especially, he uses people to lure you into things you don’t want to do, the reason for all that is that you won’t be able to stand on your commitment to the Lord.
Many people do not understand this after making several attempts to please the Lord and find themselves doing what they don’t want to do they conclude; some people are specially made to serve the Lord. You gat to understand that you have an enemy who could not please God as angel Lucifer and he is strongly committed to ensuring no one pleases the Lord as well.
Understand this; the devil does not have the capacity to force you to sin, in fact he is not permitted to touch you, this is what he does; if he wants you to fall to sin of fornication or adultery, all he needs do is to present you a lady that is seductive in appearance and thereby seeking your consent, your approval is needed, our text today says ‘…consent thou not’ someone trying to get you angry, ‘consent thou not’ someone inviting you to participate in an ungodly act ‘consent thou not’ someone inviting you to nightclub ‘consent thou not’ someone enticing you to break your home ‘consent thou not’.
Your consent is very powerful here, when I hear people say it’s the devil, I ask how? could he have forced you to sleep with another man’s wife? it couldn’t have been possible without your consent. Most sins you commit, you thought over them and give your consent. Make up your mind going forward; I won’t by God’s grace give my consent to sin anymore, SO HELP ME GOD.
PRAYER:
Ask for grace to stand on your commitment to serve the Lord.
