Topic : MERCY FOR OUR LAND
Text : 2 Chronicles 7:1-15
13 KJV:If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 KJV:If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
15 KJV:Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
It is obvious that Nigeria is blessed with numerous natural resources, the land that flows with milk and honey yet good percentage of her population lives in poverty. insecurity is in every nock and cranny, unemployment has been a long time problem, several millions of people live from hands to mouth. A 55 years old nation that cannot walk out herself from her unfavourable circumstances though blessed with great potentials.
From all indications we seem not to know where our solutions are, several failed political reforms and government policies, one generation of corrupt leaders is succeeded by another generation of corrupt leaders. It is alarming to hear on daily basis the billions of naria our leaders embezzle, dollar has gone far beyond our control, we are entering the list of highly indebted nations.
WAY OUT.
Firstly, we need to understand that our heaven is shut as a nation, if not why has God not given us true leaders for these 55 years? why are we falling into the hands of devourers? We need mercy from God. Let’s seek God’s face for our land, the solution is not in the hands of politicians but believers. Look at verse 15: KJV:Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. Take note of ‘this place’, that is, His house, His temple, His church, not in ASO ROCK, also note this in verse 14 ‘if my people’ not sinners, not politicians, not everybody but MY PEOPLE. Brethren the solution lies in our hands, let’s do it for our nation, let’s do it for generations yet unborn, let’s do it for our children’s children. United States of America was transformed by the church not politicians go and read their history.
PRAYER.
Lord have mercy on Nigeria.
