Topic: GRACE FOR THE RACE
Text: Ecclesiastes 3:10-15 KJV
11. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12. For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
A local song writer wrote
“come walk with me
the road is strait and narrow
come walk with me
I cannot walk alone
The road is rough and there are many dangers
come walk with me
and you will see me through”
We run a race that leads to eternity (a place of no end), the path of the race is very narrow and the gate is strait (Matt 7:14), the mighty are fallen on that race and the weapons of war are perished (2 Sam 1:27), sometimes it looks as if we have run this race long enough for it to have ended yet many a-time it feels the race will not end anytime soon.
Dearly beloved, when all of these questions goes on in your mind, there is just but one answer, you need GRACE for the RACE. This race is not a function of how swift, wise or strong you are as confirmed in our text for today, because for by strength shall no man prevail (1 Sam 2:9), even Paul said Demas has forsaken him because of the pleasures of the world (2 Timothy 4:10). So this race is a function how much of God’s grace you have clung unto or allowed into your life.
Therefore remember God’s word to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is
sufficient for thee: for my strength is
made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Dear reader, rely absolutely on God’s grace and you shall win the race. God bless you

1. Father, I receive grace to win this race to eternal life
2. Help Lord not to rely on my ability but absolutely on your enabling grace from now on in Jesus Name
