18 December
Text: Phillipians 2: 1-11
Topic : HUMILITY
5AMP:Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]
6AMP:Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,
7AMP:But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
When success comes the natural man tends to think it’s attained by his power, self examination of achievement, if care is not taken, leads to pride. You tend to think things were made possible because of your effort, skill, hard work, money, education, connections at times even ability to pray, all these are mere carnal dispositions.
God detest the proud, He alone wants the glory, He shares it with no one, look at this AMP:But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it). James 4:6.
STATEMENTS OF THE PROUD
By utterances you can know a proud person, statement like ‘I know what l went through before I got it done’, ‘if not for me’,’l am the best in this and that’, ‘I am the first person to do this or that’, ‘I am not in their class’ etc.
God is committed to raising a man who is humble, James 4:6, He determines who is king, boss, blessed, etc. A humble person is also known by utterances; ‘by the grace of God’,’to God be the glory’,’it’s the Lord’s doings’, ‘we have no power of our own’.
Believe me the next person to be lifted is a humble person, he gives grace to the one who is humble enough to receive it.
