Topic: DESTINY AND TIME
Text: Joshua 13: 1- 10 KJV
1 Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth
yet very much land to be possessed.
2 This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
3 From Sihor, which is before Egypt, evenunto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of
the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
Destiny or God’s given purpose for every man is a function of time. Destiny is only valid when it is fulfilled at God’s appointed time or within God’s appointed time. But rather for any man to fail to accomplish God’s purpose, God will rather replace that individual with another person to fulfill the same purpose. I pray that God will not replace you in Jesus Name.
In Joshua 1: 6 God clearly stated to Joshua his purpose “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto
this people shalt thou divide for an
inheritance the land, which I sware unto
their fathers to give them.” So Joshua was to possess the promise land for the Israelites and divide the land among them by tribes.
However from our text in Joshua 13:1, God came to Joshua and said to him that he was well advanced in age (old) and there are yet very much lands for him to possess for the Israelites. Take note of the word “very much land”. In other words God was saying to Joshua that he has not achieved much with time, that he was far behind in the agenda of God for him and that he was moving too slow for God.
Dearly beloved, purpose is not valid if fulfilled before or after its appointed time, you need to understand God’s timing for your destiny. Don’t be too slow for God and don’t be too fast for Him for its dangerous and it might amount to struggles, because it will seem as if you are alone and that God is not with you, even when you are sure you are fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.
