Topic: THE DANGERS OF WORRY
Text: Genesis 19: 30-38 KJV
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
Worry is a state of no peace of mind concerning the past, the present and the future. Another word we can liken worry to is fear or anxiety. Fear of past life, fear of what the future holds, fear of the known and the unknown e.t.c Worry is a great tool in the hand of the devil to torment people especially a child of God. Devil can use worry to unnecessarily keep you busy, and you become so occupy that you leave important things undone.
From our text today, the two daughters of Lot were worried about their future and about preserving their father’s generation, they concluded within a very short time that there father was the only man alive on earth and were possibly of the opinion that if their father died they would never meet any man to marry them to raise children and so the fear of the future made them to commit abomination with their father and made their generation enemies of God, that is one of the dangers of worry
* Worry can make you sin against God like the two daughters of Lot did.
* Worry can make you lose faith in the saving power of God.
* Worry can make you lose your peace of mind
* Worry is dangerous to your health
Dearly beloved, why worry when you can pray, trust in the mighty power of God to overcome worries, focus your attention on God’s power especially great things he has done in your life in the past or even in the life of others in the past, and stand upon His words for your victory. God bless you
PRAYER:
1. Father deliver me from the worries and fear of my past, present and future
2. I receive power to overcome worries and anxiety in Jesus Name.
