PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
13th November
Topic: ACTIVE AND NOT PASSIVE PRAYER
Text: James 5:13-20 KJV
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passion as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six
months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Active prayer includes a great deal of actions geared at obtaining positive result in prayer, it means to pray earnestly, persistently, fervently, effectively e.t.c
Verse 16 of our text says our prayer should be effectual and fervent, verse 17 says Elijah prayed earnestly, so it means active prayer holds much while passive prayer holds little or nothing. I remember when I visited a friend’s house, the house has a massive gate at the entrance and house is located at the extreme end of the plot, I knocked passively with my hand severally without anyone answering, and sometimes I gave up, but since the day a sister told me if you visit such a house again don’t use your hand pick a big stone and bang the gate, the response has been quick even if the people in the house were sleeping they will come out, that’s how it is when we knock the doors of heaven in prayer, you have got to bang actively for immediate response from heaven. The story of the widow in Luke 18 also points clearly that praying always without fainting or giving up yields the required result. The Judge in that story feared neither God nor man but so that the widow would not weary him out with her persistent request, he answered her request. So don’t be passive in your prayer but rather pray actively. God bless you
PRAYER:
1. Father help me to pray always and not to faint
