PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
12th November
Topic: RATIONAL LIES
Text: Matthew 25:14-30 KJV
24. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou
hast not strawed:
25. And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27. Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Men has always find words to defend themselves when confronted with certain realities of life especially when they failed to live up to standard or do what is right, this is called rational lies. Rational lies are lies that men speak to justify their failure to do what is right or to console themselves for failing to meet up to expectation.
For example if you confront a smoker or a drunkard and you try to tell the person the danger of death in smoking and drinking, since the person was not ready to change he will likely say to you that “all human being will surely die of something”.
A corrupt political officer holder will like say “looting of public fund is a national cake”, these are rational lies.
In our text today, the servant who was given a talent tried to defend himself and said these about his master “Lord, I knew thee that
thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.” but despite his defence, he was cast into outer darkness because he was inexcusable.
Dearly beloved, do you also tell rational lies for your short-coming or failure to do what is right as a child of God, think about it, repent and ask God to help you. Above all stand up, stand up for Jesus in all you do and remember that His grace is sufficient for you II Corinthians 12:9. God bless you
PRAYER:
1. Father, help me not to deceive myself with rational lies of this world
2. Give me grace to be right with you always
