Topic: TIME AND CHANCE
Text: Ecclesiates 9: 1-12 KJV
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, no yet favour to men of skill; but time and
chance happeneth to them all.
12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
Time is of the essence of life, it is a period of living while chance is an event or opportunity that occurs with time. Within a space of time and by chance a lot of things can happen, a lot of things can change, circumstances that are meant to be ideal can suddenly change from the ideal e.t.c
Solomon emphasizes this in verse 11, that the swift who were meant to be winner in a race no longer wins, the strong who were ideally suppose to win the battles were losing to possibly to those who were weak….due to time and chance. What Solomon meant was that in a space of time and by chance, a chronic and rejected sinner can become a very great evangelist, on the other hand a very fervent christian who is careless can turn to a chronic sinner.
LESSONS TO LEARN
* Don’t despise any one irrespective of their status, level or condition
* Always see the strength of others and not their weakness
* Take heed unto yourself so that you do not fall Ecclesiates 9:10
* Rely totally on God who holds the time and the chance
PRAYER:
1. Lord help me not look down on others even if they are sinners
2. Father uphold me with your right hand of righteousness, let me not fall
