Topic: DESPERATE PRAISE
Text : Habakkuk 3: 1-19
:Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
KJV:Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
KJV:The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
When people are in desperate situations they tend to give up and lose heart, but one principle l have found out in life is this; tough time don’t last but tough people do, when the going gets tough only the tough gets going. I learnt not to be weary when tough time comes, a desperate situation requires desperate praise, it is desperate praise because though, there is pains in your heart yet you resolve to praising God, the understanding is this; since I can’t handle this situation myself I had better hand it over to God in praise.
From our text, prophet Habakkuk said ,as a farmer, though I couldn’t get income or reward of my labour, all farm produce are not forth coming both crops and animals yet will I praise the Lord. In other words the present challenge or problem can’t stop me from praising God. He knew that God is able to turn things around when he praise, he didn’t sit down complaining or asking God ‘why’. he knew when he gives God what He wants, God will turn his misfortunes to fortunes, look at verse 19 KJV:The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places..’ beyond farm produce, God will make me to walk upon my high places, this was his understanding, and that is the understanding of everyone who truly knows God, Job understood this and so, in his hard times he said ‘… blessed be the name of the Lord’ Job 1:21,22. Paul and Silas understood this when they praised God in the prison and the prison doors opened, when you understand, believe and practise this you will definitely experience a turn around. Do have a praiseful week, God bless you.
