Topic : THE BLESSEDNESS OF YOUR MOUTH
Text : James 3: 1-12
KJV:Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
KJV:Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
KJV:Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Life was made by words, without words there is no life, life can get better with right words, right utterances. People who speak well live well, those with right words hardly have problem with people. God made the world by His words, and He made us in His image, to function like Him in the same order. If truly we are in His image and likeness we should be able to put things right in our lives by our words.
Look at this KJV:Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21, your tongue carries life and death, it depends on how you use it. From our text, the mouth with which you bless (pray), should not be used to curse, it’s like taking the plates you use in the kitchen to toilet and then bring them back to kitchen for use.
You have only one tongue and it must be exclusively reserved for prayer. Curse no one. I know sometimes, people do something that warrant laying curses, if you don’t you are simply reserving your tongue for prayers not that you’re a fool. Look at this ‘He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction’. Proverbs 13:3
* When you keep your mouth, you keep your life.
* A lying tongue is an abomination unto God.
* When you use your tongue in a corrupt manner, you reduce the power it carries
* Slandering and backbiting limit answers to prayer.
* If you are prompt to curse, God reduces the power in your tongue because you will destroy things.
* Lord, cleanse my tongue and cleanse me.
* Lord, help me to refrain my tongue from evil.
* With your mouth pronounce good and great things to your life this day, (give time for this and do it well).
