Topic; UNDERSTANDING WORSHIP
Text ; John 4: 20-27
AMP:A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.
AMP:God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality). John 4;23,24
l will give 3 definitions for clearer understanding;
-Worship is a feeling of profound love and admiration: this is what we experience when we are lost in course of singing praises and worship songs
-Worship is also defined as love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess: this is express through a sincere heart, when it is obvious in our lives that we serve God, God knows it and men feel it.
-Worship is showing devotion to a deity (GOD); devotion through our lives.
Explaining from scriptures a true worshipper must worship in spirit and truth, (reality).
In REALITY, for real, with all sincerity and commitment, this is beyond going to church, of course going to church is part of if but beyond that. It means serving God in the closest (secret) and public, this is a point where there is no skeleton in our cupboard, when our hearts truly pant after God.
In SPIRIT, our worship must be spiritual not canal, the connecting cable between us and God is the SPIRIT, building our spiritual lives is very vital in relating with God and understanding Him. It is absolutely important to grow our spirit man if must understand His ways, plans and purpose, God doesn’t speak to the body but the spirit and we can only give acceptable worship through the spirit.
GIVING ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP
* Abstain from sin and live holy
* Grow your spirit man by spending more time in God’s presence, praising and praying.
* Devote quality time to the study of God’s word (bible).
* Separate a day to wait upon God in fasting, probably weekly.
* Don’t forsake the gathering of spirit filled brethren.
PRAYER POINTS
– Lord captivate my heart by your Spirit.
– Help me Lord to give acceptable worship always.
